That's cool but if you really want an extreme adventure, how about rowing roughly 4000 miles across Europe and using a SwissBike LX to pull the rowboat overland when necessary. That's what Colin & Julie Angus are doing.

When rowing, Colin will stow the Swissbike LX in a watertight compartment on the rowboat. When he needs to portage, he'll pull out the SwissBike LX, unfold it, attach the bike to a trailer, lash the boat to the trailer and pedal away.

For more about this unique adventure, visit...

Sounds awesome. I am going to buy the Paratrooper (to represent my 20-years of military service) and want to participate again in triathlons (maybe an Ironman in the future). Saw this article and was impressed and inspired. I will be thinking of converting mine, too. Can't wait to see the looks from other triathletes looking at this green monster. Angel, do you care to share a listing of your components, modifications (if any), and problems (if any)?

Thanks for reminding people that Napa Valley is a great place to ride. Much better than driving. My husband and I are long time Montague bike owners and recently did a trip with our bikes to Napa. I'd like to add two more places people should really check out.

One is V.Sattui Winery, its a great place to stop and have lunch. Not only do they have wine but they have a great deli and cheese shop and they have picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy the great food, wine and scenery!

We also loved the tram ride at Sterling Vineyards, its a little pricey$20.00 but you can get a discount by going to their website and its well worth the price to see an amazing view of the valley.

Happy Riding! Alicia (CX) and Jon (Paratrooper)

Will submitted his final post today from Mallorca. He was there for just under 2 weeks and rode a total of 466 miles.

If you'd like to read all Will's posts from his great bike trip or see his outstanding photos, you'll find links to each post here (as well as Will's comments regarding the performance of his Montague MX from RideTHISbike.com)...

Following is one of the stories about the trip I just referenced above. Of particular interest to readers of this blog would be the photos of the Montague full size folding bike in the carry bag on the Amtrak train as well as the photo of the bike unfolded at the train station. Strapped onto the back of the bike is a 26" suitcase...

Mating a Montague full size folding bike like the SwissBike LX with the new SwissBike soft case makes perfect sense for traveling. I took the Amtrak Cascades train from Seattle to Portland, rode with a friend in his RV to Anacortes, took the ferry to Vancouver Island and the fast ferry back to Seattle, flew from Seattle to Dallas & drove from Dallas to New Orleans.

The entire time, I had my full size Montague folding bike and soft case carry bag with me. Sometimes, I used the carry bag; other times I didn't. Without it or the Montague folding bike, this fabulous trip would not have been possible.

Despite being transported so many different ways, being stored in the carry bag and being handled by airline baggage handlers, the bike was not damaged in any way (photos are up on my site to prove it too). Nice going, Montague.

Hi Kate,

Glad to hear you are enjoying your TX. There is some amazing riding to be had in AZ. Hopefully this year I will be able to get out there myself and post some trail reviews.

You can send all of your pictures (and your stories) to stories@swissbike.com. They will then be posted in our gallery which will obviously make you incredibly famous!

It's great to see Montague has a blog. I bought a swissbike tx this summer and am really enjoyed it. I just took mine out over Thanksgiving to Arizona and had some great rides. It definitely help offset all the turkey I ate! Can't wait to see more. Will we be able to post pictures here?
